ZapBulletRider

have you seen the latest head on commercial?

It starts w/ the normal commercial and then this woman walks out in front of it and goes "..head on, apply directly to forehead. Head on, I hate your commercial, but I love your product."

that's the whole commercial. That's the first time I'd actually seen a head on commercial.

I respect the people that sleeve it up w/ some sick shit, but I would never want that for myself. Some people just look like they were made for tattoos. Larry Hughes pulls it off surprisingly well, as does Allen Iverson.

We took my people, my employees out for "work thing" one night - if you showed up, you +had+ to get a permanent body modification (OK, we let some people slide with a piercing, but it had to be something other than an ear...)

Not kidding, this was some hardcore company team building - sorted out the slackers from the CORE people (CORE = CULT OF RAM EMPLOYEES)

Yes, I have them...no they don't show when I have on clothes...

question: were you in prison?

when i go to miami (oh yes, im going to the superbowl...kind of...im doing concessions), i was thinking of getting one since the artists there are so much better than they are in pc or gainesville. i was thinking of getting my sig where a watch would usually go so i can hide it if need be but its still pretty visible. i was also thinking of a wave with the words "god, family, friends, self" inside of a barrell on my ribs but im not sure about either tattoo.

My advice, thoroughly think it through before getting one. You're one of the older ones on here, so I'm sure you have, but for the younger cats, think it though. I got some lame tribal thing on my lower back when I was 16. At the time I just wanted a tat, I now wish I wouldn't have gotten it. Its a fuckin piece of flair off the wall, with no meaning what so ever... Now when I was 22 or 23 I got a latin phrase across my upper back. It starts on the back of my left tricep goes across my shoulder blades and ends on the back of my right tricep. Intertwined between the letters are vines and right in the center is a Tahitian style sun. The whole thing has a ton of meaning for me. I don't regreat that one at all... I'm considering getting a half sleeve on my right arm, from my shoulder down to the middle of my bicep. I just refuse to get one where it can be seen while wearing work attire...

do you think this is true all of the time? i don't like when girls get stupid little butterflies or flowers or cartoon characters. but when i got mine (and it took me 5 years to figure out what i wanted), i got a cross with a 4 leaf clover coming out from behind it b/c i'm irish and christian. eventually i want to put "faith & family" around it somewhere. oh, and it's high up on the back of my neck, so i can show it or hide it depending on the situation. i've had it for almost 2 years (i'm 25 now) and i love it.

Hahaha, you still remember that post from the OLD boards when I put up the tattoo I was thinking about getting?

I never got any tattoo at all though, after thinking about it, and seeing a bunch of people's tattoos and how faided they look, and old and nasty, I decided it wasnt worth it.

I still think Islandboy, or something island related, or something with some meaning is better than anything like a tweety, or some random ass chinese writing that only looks cool, and can mean "Im an ass hat" so...

i just find it unattractive. purposefully modifying one's flesh for fashion just seems shallow to me (i don't care what people say their tatoos mean to them, they're certainly for others to see). keeping the body in its purest form seems spiritually purer. i feel the same way about fake boobs. im sure there are guys who think it's hot, it's just not for me. it never looks right... tainting the body's natural form.

yeah I'm kind of on the fence about fake boobs. I've always been anti, but lately I've been turning a bit. I think when done in moderation and made to be proportional with the rest of the body, they can be really hot. Pretty much any girl getting above a C looks too porn star-ish though.

interesting view on it. i wouldn't necessarily call mine a modification for fashion, more of a statement of who i am and what i believe in. but you are right in that it is, in part, for others to see. and i am definitely against fake boobs, unless it's for reconstructive surgery (accident, burn, cancer victims, etc).

yeah, reconstructive surgery is totally fine, obviously. also, if you have a physical abnormality, i think it makes sense to get it fixed. especially for children. what i think is lame is face lifts, silicone injections, etc. it fucks people's faces up, and they seem to just lose their sense of physical identity.

calogen injections in the lips piss me off. I have never seen one yet that I thought the woman looked attractive. Especially when they put the brown lipstick on only around the edges. It makes it look like an asshole when they make a kissey face... Worse thing a woman could possilbly do... And I'm all for fake boobies as long as they're not obsecenly large. Like someone else said, bigger than a C cup is just ridiculous. I'd prefer something that looking attractive and natural as opposed to obscenly large to the point of being unattractive...

I don't think that all people are getting tattoos for fashionable reasons. I think a lot of people do nowadays, but none of my tattoos are meant for anyone to see. I have them just to remind me of people and specific events in my life that I don't want to forget. I normally go out of my way to make sure that they are all covered up.

i'm a fan of tats. just not on me. my cousin has a couple, most of them are tasteful and actually look pretty sick. my sister has a bunch, most of which aren't really all that sick, but it's primarily because we have different tastes in art.

ive thought about one that i would like to get a couple of times, but the main reason i wouldnt is that its a waste of money. my sister and cousin knew a bunch of guys who did tattoos and so they got most of them for free or at a huge discount.

[Tattoo Joke]

So this guy is out with his buds for his bachelor party - they get him wasted and drag him to a tattoo parlor. In his drunken stupor, he thinks "yeah, I'll get my womans name on my dick". So he stretches it out full length, and gets the artist to put WENDY on it, the name of his wife-to-be.

The next morning he checks out his package, and all limp, it shows WY, it works out OK with the wife, she thinks it's cute.

Well the wedding goes down, and they take off for the honeymoon to Jamaica - the wife convinces him to head down to a nude beach. After a bit he goes to the beach bar to score them some drinks - as he's standing there, a tall black guy comes up to the bar. Well he glances down and notices the guy has WY on his dick.

"Hello! I don't mean to be weird, but I noticed your pecker has a WY on it, just like mine! I got my wife's name Wendy on mine, does yours say Wendy, when it's umm, full length?"

The Jamaican man smiles and says (say this part out loud with a Jamaican accent):

"No man, mine says, Welcome to Jamaica, Have a Nice Day"

Contrary to popular belief, modern tattoos were never intended to signify anything of deep emotional significance. They're an art form no different from painting, sculpting, welding, or even automobile design. Ask any tattoo afficianado and they'll tell you the same thing; very few (if any) of our tattoos have any special meaning, we just got them because we thought they looked cool.

I guess that's why I hate it when people get tattoos to "remember someone or something." The things that are worth remembering do not need any sort of ostentatious commemoration such as a tattoo; their emotional resonance is forever preserved in the mind.

how can you say whether something does or does not signify something important to someone?

Didn't you just say that this is only my opinion?

Nevermind, that's besides the point, the point that you completely missed with my statement. I didn't say that tattoos don't mean anything to anyone, what I said was that 1.) they were never intended for the purposes most people use them for; and 2.) getting tattoos to "remember someone or something" is unneccessary; if they/it meant so much to you, why do you need a tattoo to remember it? Shouldn't it's importance be so great that it makes a tattoo reminder unnecessary? If you need something that ostentatious to remember something, odds are it's not worth remembering.

you said in the first paragraph of your post that it was the opinion of any tattoo aficionado that our tattoos don't have any significance and we got them just because we looked cool.

I also said that they're an art form no different from painting, sculpting, welding, or even automobile design. Again, I didn't say they held no significance whatsover, I said they hold very little emotional significance to the aficionado. There's a difference between emotional and artistic significance.
