What I find incredible is that a show as genius as Seinfeld spawned from a stand-up comic as mediocre as Jerry.
There's a reason the later seasons nixed his stand-up bits.

The show is hall of fame.
His stand up is extremely meh.

Perhaps Larry David was the key ingredient.

Really you don't like jerry doing stand up? i really love it... althought i prefer the show too i still LOL with the stand up bits... Why do you think is mediocre? the guys is the only stand up that fills rooms and makes people laugh without evey swearing(say bad words) , if u see Louis CK or even Ricky they use fuck/shit all that workds that help alot getting people to laugh.

Of course this is something that is very very subjectiv... :)

I'll agree with Larry David being a huge part of it. Curb Your Enthusiasm is George's Life without the laugh track and its awesome

What comedians do you like if you dont like Seinfeld? Maybe that will give better insight as to your not understanding his comedy

My vball team in HS had a chant where if the other team missed a serve someone would yell "No soup for who?" and everyone else yells "No soup for you!"

I always thought it was pretty lame but, nonetheless, I appreciated the reference.

Curb yoru entusiasm is awesome.. i have to agree that LD also had a big part of the sucess of seinfeld... i follow his work also... did u guys know that he was the voice of the presidente of the yankees? and that the real president went there to do himself that voice, but they cut it because it wasn't as funny as LD :P
