i'm heading to ocean city for a week (9th -16th). wondering if there is any laws against skiming/surfing, or if it is only allowed before or after certain times or in certain areas. (i just went to wildwood for a day and i had to wait till after 5:30 when all the life gaurds left). thanks for the help
is anyone gonna be around? it'd be cool to have someone to skim with.

Ocean city sucks for skim. I assume you mean OC NJ. Theres also an OC maryland. If you can, go south to cape may and skim there.

if you mean OC maryland then you can only skim once the lifeguards have left (530ish) and by that time its low tide and sucks worse than usual (i dont think there are any surfing laws, except you cant surf inbetween the flags where the people swim)
but like gunstock said theres better places that are pretty close by

I hate Cape May...boot camp was easy...but doing pushups on the beach in september, watching perfect waist high swell dump right on shore was agonizing.

there is an area or two in OC, MD that you can surf/skim but I don't know them off the top of my head. Your best bet is to ask someone in a surf shop if nobody responds here.
If you are already in OC, MD you should head north a little to where you can skim all day :) I'm not sure what the law is now in bethany, but you can skim all day in Dewey.

If you are talking OC Maryland the skim is decent but the lifeguards won't let you skim. I haven't been there in a while but 42nd street used to break real good

Hey, my dad and a bunch of his friends are going to be fishing june 11-18 in oc md. I'm not that stoked about fishing and would like to spend a few days skimboarding. Im not sure about the skimmin though with the lifeguards. I heard assiteque island (not sure how to spell it) was alright. Get back to me if u want to ride, Logan.

Dude the tides change every day. Low tide isnt necessarily at night.

yeah i'm a dumbass and meant maryland, i just went to oc nj for a day and it pretty much sucked. cool day at the beach though?
well i guess my best luck is hope the tides are right after 5 30 or i'm takin a walk or ride somewhere else to skim.. i know in va beach they allow surfing between curtain streets when it's "no surf time" anything like that or am i wasting my time asking?

no u can skim assateague, but i think they have flagged areas...u can only skim bt certain flags. sucks bc chances are all the little kids want to play in front of you. who knows of any other good areas in md?? i know the beginning of delaware by OC...just take the drunk bus and then walk a block...has pretty decent skim, no flags or problems with skimming. ur allowed to surf in OC, they say "no hard objects" but wouldnt a surfboard be a hard object as well?

If you're talking OC Maryland, drive about 45 mins north and go to the south side of the indian river inlet. Not the most consistent break, but it can really go off there.
