Hey everyone

It's been a while since I did my last series of auctions and I have been meaning to get around to this for a while. The theme is Marine Places. Take a look:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7419326610

All proceeds go to the Sierra Club. The winning bidder will get to choose one image from the five in the gallery. you can see them here:

again, the winner of the auction gets to choose one of these images to be printed as an 11x14. Help me out and spread the word.

Let me know what you think of the images.

just out of curiosity ryon, in your previous auctions, about how high have the bids gotten? i'm considering this.

ryon, i truly love the photos and commend you for always positively contributing to society with your art. but the sierra club hates on my dirt biking trails! don't get me wrong, i know they do a lot of great stuff for the enviroment. i suppose my gripe is similar to the situations in florida where they don't allow skimming on certain beaches. dirt bikes have had the designated land for decades and now it is being taken away. meh. again, good work ryon!

If I had money I would bid, and hope to win. But I don't so I made a bulletin on myspace about it and hopefully that will help.

word. the sierra club fucks dirtbikers in the ass nonstop. they treat us like shit and they are trying to make dirtbiking completely illegal in california and they are trying to pass laws saying kids under 16 cant ride dirtbikes anymore. and they want to stop expansion of any riding areas. also at one of the best riding spots in califorania, clear creek, an open land area they have taken away almost all of our trails. WHY? the land is asbestos infected and nobody can live there. so why cant a few ppl ride and take care of it? fucken sirra club.

i still liek the pics tho...

I was not aware of the Sierra Club doing this. Since I live in nor cal I guess I just dont hear about these things. I apologize.

Though, I would have to agrue that the Sierra Club has done more good than bad throughout its history. I'm sure every organization has its faults. Nontheless, I will take complaints such as this into consideration in the future.

Glad you like the photos. happy bidding!

..and if it weren't for the Sierra Club Mt. Baldy would be as good of a resort as Mammoth. The Sierra Club contends that the expansion lands would interfere with the migratory path of sheep but the only reason the sheep use the route to to feed off dumpsters in the valley when food becomes scarce in their natural habitat(the desert)

and the #1 reason the Sierra Club sucks=GLAMIS. What do you mean I can't ride my bike on dunes that the military used as a bombing range for 30 years because I might accidently kill a weed? They can spray the desert with Napalm but I can't enjoy the public lands I pay taxes to maintain.

but I think it's sick what you're doing.

Ryon,
Great photos....but I have to agree with some of the guys on here about the Sierra Club. They tend to politic their way around without truly understanding the issues for which they legislate. Bottom line, you have every right to choose which charity you wish to donate......have you considered the SurfRider Foundation? I think it would go nicely with your theme and the money won't ultimately end up in some politicians bank account for his campaign.

good point S3. I agree that Ryon has the right to send the proceeds wherever he desires and I respect his intentions even if I don't agree on the charity.

uThe surfrider foundation also backs politicians that would further their goals. I will use Donna Frye as an example.

I recieved similar resistance to the idea when I was originally going to give the money to surfrider, just like some people gave me heat for giving money to the Red Cross. I eventually became convinced that no charity or cause can make everyone happy. So, I will change the auction description to allow the donation to an environmentally-related charity of the winning bidder's choosing.

well, scratch that. I tried to edit the details of the auction but ebay won't let me. I'm still getting the hang of ebay...

Ok, so I can't change the description and I already got the word out. Since I have told many people that the proceeds are going to the Sierra Club and advertised the auction as such, that is where they will go.

It's too bad that the act of charity always has strings attached. I'm just a student and an artist. I don't really care too much for politics but I guess it's unavoidable.

Why can't people just be happy someone's doing a good thing?

the red cross has done a lot in the katrina crisis and im glad to have supported them through one of your pics but youre right about not being able to satisfy people with one charity.

Ryon,
Don't sweat it man. Just the act of charity itself shows that you are a kid well ahead of your time. The Sierra Club does its' fair share of good in the world. "f" the political stuff and just know that your act of good faith and kindness is all that really matters......
