i have some excels but my feet still slide when i take off. but at 7mm, they are so comfy and warm! i think sliding is gonna be a problem no matter what you get because the neoprene stretches a lot.
My 3mm oneills slde too. Doesn't bother me, and they are warm unlesss I'm out more than 2 hrs.

This is the reason I don't wear them ^.........and my feet freeze. =(

If you want a lot of heat and sacrifice traction go with something thicker like 5mm.
I've used 5mm O'neil's that were like $40 but my feet slid around quite a bit so I switched to some thin bodyboarding booties that are like $20 and will probably rip after a 1-3 seasons of use called H20 odysseys.

i think once the smell is there, it's there. i usually spend a good amount of time to rinse my booties and gloves. the smell hasnt gotten too bad yet but it has definitely gotten worse over the couple of years i've had them

I have an awful smelling sense so this may not work, but after rinsing my boots I stuff them with
newspaper(Preferably a Daily Targum). Haven't noticed any odor but then again I have little to no sense of
smell.

on the topic of booties, which type do you prefer? Split toes or just regular? I had split toes and they felt alright until they started to slip around in my feet,

I use closed toe booties for surfing. Skimming I just suck it up and don't use booties.
As for the smell, this usually works for me.
