What do you think is the best board company name?
I think Victoria is a lame name--I know why it is named that but it is still a queen's name for a skimboard company--not appealing to me.
Zap--????
Slotstik--kinda cool--definitly 80's.
Grape--kinda fruity.
Syndrome--pretty cool.
Exile--sounds good--describes the sport in a sense--very cool.
Land's End--I like it.
Sol--don't like it because I made skimboards named Soul Skimboards at the time Sol came out and that was a bummer. Otherwise Soul is my all time favorite board name.

your topic should have just been an open question about what people feel is the best name. not your opinionson each . p.s. its called zap because of the dudes shaping being around all the chemicals and feeling "zapped"/ high. bye

Syndrome makes me think of tribal tattoos and Limp Bizkit. I like Exile. Land's End is second. Then Slotstik, Vic, Grape, Zap, and Sol(If it was "Soul" it would be numero uno, but it's not so "Sol" is gay.)

Yeah Syndrome makes me think of Nu Metal, and tribal tattoos as well, alas, I have one.
Land's End is an awesome name, but it's sort of silly because there's already a huge company called Land's End.

i just want to say i think it's pretty lame that an owner of a "skim store" would come on line publically and insult/give their opinion about major board company's names when all you asked was what people thought the best company name was.
Not sorry, cause that's my opinion.

Its not that I dislike your boards at all, they are sick, that was just what I thought of at the time.
p.s.-I used to love Limp Bizkit.
revolution skimboards are the best, and their name came up, cos they revolutionized the skimboarding market in portugal.

Jim--it is just a name preference, chill out!! Like Zap for instance--I love the owners but I am not hip on the name--why is that a problem? They are just product names for pete's sake.

It is weird how you can stand around at the beach skimmin or at a contest and talk about things like this and other subjects and it is cool but put it on the message board and people get upset.

baker skimboards is named after baker beach
and i think the name baker is a good one, if for no other reason because it makes for a great slogan: "if you're gonna ride baker, you gotta ride baker"

Yeah and as they said--that is part of the appeal for some people about the name Victoria--location.
Victoria is synonymous with skimming. I don't associate the name "victoria" with anything but skimboarding and fine women in lingerie....two very pleasurable things...
Zap is by far the lamest name for any product other than some miracle upholstery cleaner that you can buy on TV. The family over there, the team, the company is all cool. I'm only bashing the name Zap.
Exile is cool. The name exile (for me) invokes sort of this, we are going to reinvent the wheel and redefine what the industry has been doing the last 20 or so years mentality....and you guys can all watch us over here in San Clemente as we do it. Then we'll show up at your contest and win. That is some cool shit.
Grape is a good healthy name. One syllable stuff is in right now, and you can build a decent logo around it.
Syndrome sounds good off the tongue and it has that hard edge follow through, but it also sounds like a band name or can even be linked to some formsof mental retardation, ie; down syndrome...etc., so for that, I'm not too crazy about it.
Slotstik. I remember when Adrian (R.I.P.) started that gig.....I like the name slotstik for no other reason than I saw his passion for it, and he suceeded in putting the Ventura-Oxnard crew on the map....and I thought the "SS's" were cool cause they looked like the SS's in the Rock group KISS's logo....
Lands end sounds like some Ivy League internet/catalog store where you can buy monogramed oxfords and some sperry top siders. That's probably because I associate it with the internet/catalog store that I know about.....and not so much the spot in Cabo that it is named after. Goes to show you my age I reckon.
Sol. Just not enough umphhhhh in this name. Sure, it's one syllable, but it doesn't have the edgyness.....I know it means sun in spanish, but that's not quite enough for me and I really like the sun.
Cabal-Roush- For some reason I like the name Cabal better than Roush. When I hear Roush I think NASCAR. So, I like Cabal better.
They should market their skimboards a little better....In my opinion.
One of the best names of any skimboard brand is Sandpiper. I mean, it exudes what the shorline is all about. The bird spends his life, running up and down the shorline, looking for sustanence, as do many skimboarders around the world.

In the 80's me and a friend of mine made boards named Shore Things Skimboards--that was a cool name. I did not think it up though.

Victoria-- I like this name because mainly it has a V. not many words use a V...
Zap-- Bug zapper comes to mind. I don't really like this name
Slotstik-- I dunno why i just don't like this name.
Grape-- Decent name, makes me laugh.
Syndrome-- Down syndrome comes to mind.
Exile-- Not many words use the letter X.
Land's End-- Makes me think of landrovers... shitty cars.
