not as well as actually working out your legs would


on the side note you have to realize that if your intake of carbs and protein before hand isnt big enough youll actually start burning off your muscles and itll work against you.

Strong legs muscles will really help your skim game. Go to the gym and do squats, leg extetions, leg curls, lunges, leg press, and calfs. Do this two times a week, about and hour and half a session and you'll have legs like a running back. Don't forget to also do stomach and lower back, also critical to ones skim game.

To answer your protien question; body builders and athletes will drink a high quality protien shakes (about 40grams of protien) a half-hour prior to and post work-outs. Your muscles will absord the protien best this way and you will grow stronger muscles that = bigger/stronger/faster shred sticks!!! Don't forget to eat at least 3-4 healthy meals a day too. Lots of chicken,eggs,fish,beef,and veggies! Protien shakes before a skim session would also benifit you, but I'd go straight to a health snack post skim sesh! You'll notice your legs will be less sore after sesions too with better nutrition. Good luck :)

I'll take protein after a really long skim session or after one that follows a long road/mtb ride since by then my legs are obliterated and that's just so I'm not horribly sore. If your taking it for gains I don't think your gonna see much, need to lift weights are do something more intensive for that...but i could be wrong.

You're right. Those things are more conditioning, aka cardio work. I've been around a lot of serious weight lifters and even got to train under a competing Strongman and their best advice for weight gain was to watch your diet and increase the amount of "real" protein while managing carbs and fat in a smart manner as well.

Nonetheless, protein after a skim session should help to prevent some soreness.

yeah, i just drink it afterwards to help my muscles heal...and unless you drink it like right after you finish, theres really not much muscle gaining use

Riddle me this: Your fast twitch muscles are used for sprinting and are thus, smaller. If you ingest a lot of protien, then won't these muscles grow, become slower and decrease your sprint speed? I suppose if this is true, small amounts of protein wouldnt do much harm. You probably wouldnt need any supplement for that.

i was wondering if anybody else was all about protien and skimboarding ha. but yes i believe it helps your legs grow immensly after skimming hard 3 times or so and drinking about 40 grams the days i skim my legs do not get as sore and they get bigger much faster. also leg workouts are great for skimming

out of all honesty if youre trying to build your leg muscles skimming isnt the way to do it, nonetheless its good cardio

speed workouts will get you fast, and weight lifting ontop of that will make you even faster. but simply working out your legs wont get you the speed you want

Build lots of leg muscle, get heavy and then you can't reach all the waves you want, making you worse at skimming. ;)

Good answer, and building stronger legs muscles will only increase skimming performance. It will not hinder it an negitive way. More Muscle=Stronger/Faster/More Explosive. Just stay lean and mean!!!

You would be an olympic power lifter if you put on 10-15 lbs of leg muscles!!! I ran track in colloge, the fastest sprinters were lean and mean with powerful legs they beefed up in the gym.

haha exactly what I was thinking! Just look at how big the legs of the best skimmers in the world are.

if you want to run faster you need to build fast twitch muscle fibers.
