Let's be honest...you have no idea where your blood alc. level was. Good thing you got off the hook though, DUI's are shitty.

I dont like driving while drunk, but i dont like getting drunk and crashing at sketchy peoples houses, such a dilemma sometimes

or...dont drink if you dont have a ride? dont be fucking stupid...that is not a dilemma.

hmm, should i risk my life, and more importantly the lives of innocent people on the road, or just sleep here at this house.

good for you, melo. getting arrested would suck. i think since you told the truth and were understanding he decided to go easy

In most cases, being respectful and telling the truth are the best way out of these situations. If the cop wants to pin you with a ticket or arrest they're going to do it. When I was 16 I pulled over b/c I knew a cop had caught me speeding, but then he flew straight past where I pulled over at so I was like "wtf do I do now?". I ended up getting on the scenic route that runs parallel to the main route and here he comes from the opposite direction. At first he was a little in my face acting smug b/c he thought he caught me trying to get away, but I just said my yes sirs/ no sirs and explained that he had flown right by me. He then let me off with a warning and told me to slow the fuck down, haha.

also bikes are a pretty effective way of avoiding dwis, as long as youre sober enough to operate one of those safely. and avoid main thoroughfares

You can get a dwi on a bike. Finally a post about a cop who is not a d. I want to be a state trooper and I hate all these cops who act like assholes that make other cops look bad. Like cabo said, if you are respectful (yes sir/no sir) and totally honest, they will usually let you go.

I seriously hope you're joking. Riding a bike UTI carries the same penalties as a motor vehicle DUI in CA. And IMO is just as dangerous.

I've always heard you could get a DUI on anything with wheels. What about those rediculous heely shoes?

I disagree, every time I have gotten pulled over, I have gone through the yes sir no sir routine. Everytime, the cop gos back to his car, and returns with the ticket.

If you are operating it near or on a roadway I would say yes because it is dangerous. I believe you can also get a DUI on a horse. I think it is pretty much whatever puts you and/or other people in danger.

It depends what you were pulled over for and who the cop is. A lot of young cops tend to write out more tickets and such so they look good and may get promoted.

Yea I think its anything that facilitates your movement...horse, lawnmower, skateboard, rollerblades, bike, and I would assume heelys.

and to the OP, im willing to bet if you had a "few" drinks...so at least 3, you were over a 0.08

Have you ever biked drunk? You swoop and swerve all over the place and could fall onto the road and cause an accident.

I've biked hammered a few times, no swerving whatsoever and I could ride no hands pretty easily.

Well when I did it, I fell a lot, and my knees were all shredded. Once, I was biking and biked and fell on some little footbridge over a stream and it was dark and soo hard to regain balance, I think i just walked my bike home.

Cops don't get promoted for writing a lot of tickets. What happens if you're a cop that works in a shitty part of town with a lot of petty crime (and thus have more chances to write tickets) vs a cop who works in a high end neighborhood (and thus have less chances to write a ticket)?

Dude...I used to think about it the same way until I thought about it more. If you are drunk and swerve into traffic and get hit, You will die (enough reason alone for it to be illegal). If a driver swerves to miss you he could cause a head on collision or other bad accident, creating more possible fatalities. If you get hit at high speed you will probably go through the windsheild possibly killing the driver or occupants. You wouldn't believe how much damage hitting someone or even a deer can cause. Not so retarded
