well whats up? i had registered here a while back, well now that i think of it, a long time ago. had to register again because it didn't recognize my email or anything. oh well

i was wondering if any san diego people here had ever went down to Sunset Cliffs? we were out surfing the other day by a place called rockslides and the tide rose too much to get out on the rocks so we paddled to a little beach just north of it that my friend said was called No Surf.

well the waves were braking right on the beach right there, so i was wondering of anyone ever hit up that spot at all. i didin't stick around to check it out too good, but it looked ok.

so, yea, thats it.

Me and a few friends skimmed that place a few times. We even had our own name for it. Ive never seen it get reeealy good, but I have seen it get pretty fun. Works best with windswell for some reason. Anything below a 3 foot tide it is not skimmable at all.

There is a place to the south that, if the sand is right, produces a weak lefthand sider. We skimmed it early july last time.

I am originally from la jolla where I have skimmed for a long time. Most good skim in san diego is there. Marine St. Windansea, and the Wall. take a look at www.skimsandiego.com There are a few guys that are pretty good that have come out of san diego. Most are pretty chill.

Yea i've been up and checked out la jolla, i just can't get out there because i don't have a board big enough. the one i have now is a shitty zap wedge, so i have to stick to the flatland crap. if i could afford to get a decent board i'd be out there in a second, but ya know how it goes. being a poor ass college student sucks

Dude, dont let the board be a limiting factor. Go skim. Or get a used board. Or call up Sean Walzer. He's a local shaper that makes great boards. About 75% of people in SD skim his boards.

Ryon, or any other SD guys,

What is the right tide to hit windansea? I am down visiting friends this weekend and it seems that the mid highs are way too high right now.

Any help would be sweet,

Mark

for windansea it all depends on the tide. Ive heard that the sand is kinda messed up there right now. I'm still up at school and I havnt been to la jolla in a month and a half.

yeah the sand got carved out really bad over the past week, so everywhere is really flat right now. It's just pretty much bad at all three beaches on all tides right now until the slope starts coming back.

yeah, the storm we had last week messed up all of the beaches by taking about 4-6 ft of sand out. all of the beaches are crap right now. windan is norm best during summer with a med tide, but it needs sand or else there is no shore break. its weird were having a kinda north swell hit us right now

yes sadly the swell direction is pretty good for the wall to work right now...but due to the lack of sand there is a mile of dead water you would have to clear to reach anything
