unless you are already rather skilled at guitar, there's no need to drop 1500$ on a taylor. in my opinion, there are a lot more guitars that sound better than taylor's that you can buy for half the price. i would put my martin d-15's sound up against any taylor's. look into the lower end martins, ovations, and takamines. all are great guitars. there was a lot of information on that other thread though.
I'm poor does anyone want to give me a guitar?

Check out Seagulls. they are priced decent and sound good. I played one that ran about $500 at a local music store and it sounded as good as other more expensive guitars i have played.
and for lower end stuff, i agree with starting off with something cheap. determination and practice are whats going to make you a good guitar player, not the guitar. at first you probably won't even be able to really appreciate the difference in sound between a $100 Squier acoustic (which was my first guitar) and a $1000 Martin or Taylor. Just get something cheap to start on, then move up as you get better, that way you don't look like a kook, and you aren't out a bunch of cash if you lose interest in it.
