I reckon you are fishing salt...and I have no idea when you last fished so that doesnt help me with the "new" part.

Go here - http://www.floridaconservation.org/RULESANDREGS/SaltwaterRules_index.htm

Look at the species you may be targeting. Several species have changed their slot size, bag limit, and closed season.

yea $9 for a shoreline license isnt terrible. Its only $17 for a saltwater license. Might as well just get one. They probably figure most people will just end up buying a full saltwater license now, thus creating extra money. If you buy a shoreline at $9 but want to go fishing with some buddies on a boat, you then have to pay another $17 for a full saltwater license (which includes shoreline). There is no way the system notices you have a shoreline allows you to only pay the difference.

Man think of every person that surf fishes or fishes piers/docks/jetties/bridges and doesnt have a saltwater license..thats a shitload of money the state will be banking. Sucks for all the kids and families that simply want a day trip to the pier.

EDIT: FWC is actually adding a federal license requirment in Jan 2010 and effective by 2011 with a fee of $15-25...The only good thing is that someone who only wants a shoreline license is exempt from the federal fee.

it was actually a loop hole that exsisted before. You didnt need a license to fish from shore in salt water but you did in fresh water......kind of stupid.
