2009 National Collegiate Skim-Off ::VIDEO and RECAP::

Greetings:

I speak on behalf of the National Collegiate Skimboarding Association when I say that we really appreciate everyone who came out to this year’s College Skim-Off. With around 60 competitors and 8 schools attending, the event was a really fun time for all who attended.

We are a growing organization and recognize that we still have a lot to learn. We will progress, and we will continue to work towards hosting professional events that will help to propel the sport of skimboarding towards the professionalism we all hope to attain. As we grow as an organization we will continue to strive to improve the image of skimboarding at large through the events that we host and the things we do as an organization.

At next years College Skim-Off, we will:

have a paid judging staff
not accept beach entries
strive to arrange the contest’s events around the tide more efficiently

This video was meant to be about the contest and not just the riders.

It was a really sick contest and we hope that there's even more people come out next year. This contest deserves a lot of recognition.

I like the video. I'm glad to see that we as a skim community have the ability to do so much for the sport-including having competent media coverage at more events- and and are open to improvement. Granted, I thought the video was going to be out a lot sooner. But maybe that's just because they can't afford to. (no money in skim media yet)

So, thank you NCSA and thank you Jesse and Josh and everyone else involved in the College skim off.

Actually, the video production staff is being paid for filming/producing this contest video. They also happen to be full time students, like a lot of us, and this was the earliest they could release it. Keep in mind, it's only been a week and a half....

Wow, that's great that they are getting paid. But I just meant they can't make enough YET for it to be a full time job that's all. If they could afford to spend 8 hours a day to edit it... You get what I'm saying.

Ok exactly my point, the final heat typically has a good amount of clips coming from it in alot of contest videos. In my opinion its not fair to the people who killed it and won to not have footage when there are people who didnt win and have 4 or 5 clips.

Sick that theres a video but a little dissapointing that there wasnt more footage of the riders who won, thats what a contest is.

I get what you're saying. And we would have done that had there been any waves in the final. Sometimes the most critical heats aren't the last to run. But we will run more final clips next time. Even if they're not the purtiest.
