So I went to the beach again today, and was working on the two step drop, can't do it... But I also figured that I am naturally an odd step runner.... crazy. I am also riding goofy foot, does that make a difference. I was doing five steps when I started the day, but got down to three steps. I guess next would be one step? anyway thanks for all the advice guys!

don't throw the board, drop it. practice on some carpet at home.
other than that, read some of the threads one how to one/two/no step.

i throw the board becuase i just want to practice riding on the board, my steps are decreasing rapidly i went form likea 6 step and im down to a 3-4 step ( msot of the time) it works out ok for me most of the time becuase the beahc is slopped so it balances out, but i still wish i could 2 or 3 step..

Trust me, if you get a one/two step goin, you'll be going MUCH faster down that sloped beach than a three or four. I used to chase my board, and not even worry about steps. It sucked. You can get out to much better waves when you step less, because you can drop closer to the water.

Droppin the board really does help, but before you drop the board where is the placement of your hands?

this is the thing, i need to practice more on the drop/run on thing, cause I have to really think about it to do a one step.i have done it beofre, but it involves too much thinking, the three step is natural now, and I suppose with more skimming I will naturally be doing one step.
BTW,
does anyone here do the style where you climb onto the board while your hand is still on the front, you don't really drop it, you put it down and climb on. It's a crazy kung-fu style, what are the advantages?

my right hand is on the back(tail) of the board. my left hand is approximately half way on the rail of the board, on the right side of my body. Any suggestions.

The crazy kung-fu thing your talking about is called a "Monkey Drop" or atleast that's what I have always seen it called.

niko, if ur goofy, hold the board on ur left side, not right. it will help a little.

I was mesing around with this the other day. I was told some pro is goofy and one steps throwing the board on his right side. It seems unnatural but when I do it it is easy to one step. Left foot lands same time as board, just to the back right of it, and my next step is right on the board. You cannot hesitate or slow down or you won't be able to pull it off, but that is usually obvious.

I do the no step, like Jaime Lovett and Kyle Holt.
I also do cross hand drop
I like their style

I ride goofy but throw regular. This was fine for 4 steps or more but this year i learned the 2 step. to compensate I don't hold it to the right any more and the left was unnatural to me so I hold it straight in front of me works for my two step. This is sort of what paulo does

tell that to paulo and grady
if you can get on the board smoothly in a small amount of steps, you're fine

Exactly. It's all about matching your bodies forward speed to that of the board.
