Well summer is almost done and i'll be working a lot in the winter and be saving up for a new board. My max price will be like 450 for a board. I was looking to get a Exile carbon for a good price. That or a High class s-glass board. What do you guys think. I'll probably pick one up in March when the stock is fresh and go skimming in April probably here at the Jersey beaches which I only live 45 mins from. So what board do you guys recommend for wave riding/flatland riding.

Try searching under exile, sglass, carbon. There are literally dozens of threads with board suggestions.

Yeah thats not bad I'll have like 6 months to save for it and i'll be making around 450 a month at my job and I put half in the bank so 225 for me to spend but i'll put like 100 a side each month so i'll end up with around 600 saved for a new board when March or April Rolls around whenever I want to go and get one!

go with the paulo. sickest board ever. if east coast skim doesnt have it buy it directly from exile and talk to steve on the phone if he is in(best part about the board).

joshcraig
08-27-2008, 05:57 PM
the difference between a hybrid or pro shape isn't going to be super noticeable for someone beginning. learn how to ride on a pro shape, you'll be better off. why not?

08-27-2008, 06:03 PM
I just got a 3/4 hybrid because I thought it would be better for east coast conditions (NJ) but now im wondering if i should have got a 3/4 pro. It is also my first carbon board.

Jerseyskimmer
08-27-2008, 06:41 PM

I usually ride the waves if its not too choppy half the time and also do flatland also to which I can go about 50-75ft if it isn't crowded.

Yeah i'm probably gonna get a carbon. They're light and strong so idk right now i'll be picking one up in late march early april at east coast skim most likely. But I loved the carbon my friend has yesterday(exile)

Surf610
08-27-2008, 06:44 PM
I would go with an exile. I went from a zap large wedge to a Carbon Exile 3/4 Hybrid and it goes twice as far, faster, floats twice as well, and is like half the weight.

I just got a vic from skimshop.com and the shipping came overnight, and the service was good. for that kind of money you should probably be looking at apex or exile. I've never ridden them so don't hold me to it, but they both have good write-ups

my name is Paul, I make all the Apex boards. Ive been shaping skimboards for me and my friends since about 2001. This summer I finished my engineering degree and partnered with Arne, a local skimmer, to form Apex skimboards. As of now all we have is a Myspace page. However a legit website is under construction. Boards are available at:

Island Surf Shop
http://www.islandshopirb.com/
http://www.islandshopirb.com/store/skim.html

Overhead Surf Shop

Double Barrel Surf Shop

Custom boards are available too. Send me a message on Myspace
