So I'm back home and spending my summer working my ass off trying to pull dollar bills out of every facet of my life with the intention of buying a decent car that i wont need to replace in the next 5 years. Basically just trying to live cost effectively.

Anyways this gillete free promo razor that ive been using has gotten dull and the replacement packs are almost $25.. seems steep, and it also seems silly to constantly buy packs of disposable razors.. so whats a man to do?

dude buy a gillette fusion from walmart or whatever, use it for like 28 days and then return it on the 29th (considering the warranty says you can return it in 30 days) go up to them and say that it lies about comfort and that you got cuts all around your crotch or something along those lines....get the $10-$12 you paid for it back and then hit the next store...repeat until you have enough money to keep a razor and buy it's blades

Most people are unaware of the fact that it is not your whiskers that dulls your razors. What dulls razors is the constant cycling of corrosion over time. Once the cutting edge of your blade begins to oxidize it then becomes easier for it to oxidize and get dull each successive time you shave.

If you take the time to completely dry your razors after each shave, you could extend the life of the blades exponentially. I have heard stories of people using the same razor for over a year and it is just as sharp as the day it was removed from the package.

To do this, simply rinse the blades in clean hot water. shake the excess vigorously and blot with tissue or towel. Run a hair dryer over the blades for a few seconds to remove any traces of moisture. Store the razor completely dry in a ziploc with a desicant sac inside. These are those little bags that you find packaged with electronic devices that remove moisture from the air and keep corrosion at bay.

You can also just submerg the razor in a little jar of mineral oil if you don't want to go through the hassle of drying and storing. This method is no different than what the metal industry does to the metal when they prep it for storage.
