I feel like a newb for not searching this, and honestly I've never ventured into this zip code of the boards, but perhaps the skim section could be segmented into say; skimboards, competitions, beginners, locations, etc. I don't know if it would result in more efficient search queries, or if there's even any other benefit, other than the fact that I am anal retentive and like things in their place.

If this has been suggested before, feel free to unleash on me.

Sounds like a good idea to me. It might more helpfull than just searching. You could just go to the section you need to ask a question about.

The only other forum that I think we could use is a "Travel Forum"

That way people can post on the places they travel to, the skim, hotels, resturants, surf shops, etc.

We see threads a lot on "Wheres the skim in LA?" or where ever

I think one of the nice things about SOMB's is that there arent too many categories to click through. I personally think that having everything lumped together promotes more participation and viewership by making the sections active.

The drawback is of course that things arent categorized.
