The End All: Board Rating Thread

I've seen countless threads on "what board is better", or "what should I buy", etc, etc. I'm not sure if this type of thread has been done yet, but I figured it would be the easiest way to solve the question.

Please pick your "wave riding" board of choice in this poll. I could not fit Nemo, Maui, Cabal, etc. If we need to, I'll create a secondary thread for manufacturers left out of the mix.

Hopefully this thread helps noobs and/or board shoppers, make a decision on their purchase.

P.S. If needs be, someone may want to create a similar thread for flatland skimboards

Completely understandable. I'll take the time to make sure it stays on the front. Referring to your statement in bold, isn't that inevitable, for the kids who ask opinions on board buying? Won't they get the same rehashed biased opinions of the people who only ride 1 or 2 boards? My point in starting this is to show what the majority of people ride. That may or may not help persuade someone to make a purchase or try a product out. Popularity contest or not, it's going to be factual as far as what the majority of the SOMB members are riding. Feel me?

Most people in those threads just say what they ride...ive always thought its not good to answer unless youve riden both...usually tell them to go and try both out and pick the one they like.

I think this is a good step for the forums here. These are the most populated forums for skimming online, so i think that a more serious and informative tone should be taken for them in order to make them a better part of the sport thats just coming into the public's eyes.

io dont think everyone should be complaining how it will be biast..if everyone chose the board that they were riding that would actually be interesting because the poll would actually show how popular each board is which is actually interesting because it could help the company see how many boards they actually have out and im curious to see which board is the most popular.
the one factor is that i know everyone that rides does not have a somb name.

yea i agree with the "what you ride is what you say" comment. but it kinda states the truth for you as a rider though. think about it, you ride the board you ride because you ride it the best. i ve ridden every factory board and the board that rides me the best is the man made hand shaped board someone made for me, but it kinda is the same shape and measurements of a zap pro but its stronger and can hold more weight then the zap,even though its the same shape and size it also has sharper rails.... i personally think that exiles are almost worthless to a novice and slight intermediate skimmer cause if you cant one step your not going anywhere there too light so you pretty much have to be all in one motion to get good rides. now when it comes to just doing a quick slash or wrap or shuv then you can basically do it on any of these boards. also what you guys get are machined pressed boards that are exactly the same. i would like to hear what the pros say that have ridden for at least two to three different boards per each company. cause they consistently try different boards and they keep the ones they like and give back the ones they dont. but pretty cool topic....

It's kind of biased because most people only have 1 or 2 boards so the most known is going to win.

If Exile leads this poll, it would be obvious to someone just coming on here, that it's the most popular board. Doesn't mean it's the best. my "wave riding" board of choice varies depending on conditions and wave shape.
so even though i "ride" a zap, i vary the model and size on conditions.

there are some high end model zaps that i don't like riding. even the same model in a different size makes a huge difference to me. but they work well for others. then there's the lesser pro model that on certain shape waves kicks ass. naked pro ftw

so i don't think there can be one board and i still say, it's not the board, it's the rider.

yea, this is Zap/Concept country around where I am (Gulfcoast/FL). I rarely see Vics. I do see a fair share of Exiles though.

Honestly in my area, I see more Exiles than anything... many have Zaps, but they are usually only Zap Pros, not many Comps. Beginning to see a lot more Concepts here, and less and less Vics

Here are my logical thoughts and and my reasoning for the results on this pole...

Just by the very nature of their businesses, Vic and Zap sell hand over fist more skimboards than Exile. I'm guessing however, that the bulk of their sales are made up in low end and entry level boards, something which exile doesn't manufacture.

That being said, I think most of the people that come on here are not your average joe kid that buys a vic foamie, or a zap wedge and goes skimming a few times a year. Granted I'm sure few of those people are on here, but by in large, I think the primary skimonline message boards user is a core market rider with a high end product.

So taking all these things into consideration... its probably safe to say Exile has managed to capture a very large chunk, possibly even be market leader in the high end boards.
