all of those are from around white oak plantation in new orleans. it's an old plantation from before the civil war, but it was formed right before slavery was abolished, so they never really cut the forrest to make cotton fields. the picture of the weird looking machine is an old cannon loader that we found about 2 miles into the woods. also, the bird. alright so we found a really really big bird cage and there was a macaw(parrot) in it, but half of it was destroyed. i think that the owner lived there before the hurricane, evacuted and left the bird, and the cage was messed up during the storm, because he was fairly tame. my only guess is that the bird just stayed there, because you don't exactly see many "wild" macaws in louisiana. all of these photos were taken with a d50 with the stock 18-55 nikkor. criticism is welcome, but i'm not saying these are great photos or anything. i just wanted to show you guys what louisiana landscape is like, because it's the only thing that i like about louisiana. enjoy.

oh, and the jesus statue that is overlooking that lake was a random find about 1-1.5 miles into the woods.

the d50 is a good camera for the price. the stock lens is a lot better than people give it credit for.

Well, I want the D50 body only because I have a stock lens off my old N65 SLR I can use on it. I still love my Fuji though....takes some amazing pictures...even with me doing my best to screw them up. :D

awesome pics. are you going to keep the bird?

hah, no. i thought about it, but my mom would kill me if i brought home a macaw that i found in the woods. at my dads i have a parrot though. african yellow nape i think it is, and he talks, so i don't need another.

Your watermark is pretty annoying though. :(

i get that a lot. the thing is that my photos are public, and the cool thing to do around here is be a "photographer," so like these scene kids have taken photos i've shot before and passed them off as their own and it really pisses me off, so now i put my name on them.

scene is so sick these days.

you should make a really annoying watermark...like your name repeating, tiled across the entire image at like 30% opacity.

Just use bold Arial 72 font in black diagnoly across the picture saying "Sam Collett's shit mother fuckers" or something to that extent
