View Full Version : 2 separate skim forums
i think there should be 2 separate "skimboarding" forums, there should be like an advice only one and normal talk, or a wave riding and flatlanding, just a thought, i wont be offended if shot down

Is there really an issue with the current system when looking at flatland and wave?

no.
EDIT: i think the question needs to be answered if they are different sports or not...
like would downhill speed skatboarding and "regular" trick skateboarding both be considered skateboarding?
twin-tip skiing and downhill skiing?

I think at this stage, as a sport, skimming is stronger with both together.
"United we stand, divided we fall" is my theory.
as i said something like an advice only one or watever i am just throwing ideas out there

the skim forum really isnt busy enough for two seperate sections to be practical
i understand what ur saying but you know when some new person asks for any advice they get absolutely ripped, or when they ask about what board to buy

not necessarily true... if they ask an ignorant question, yes. but sometimes people have legit "beginner" questions to ask...

i disagree....people dont get ripped for asking noob questions....they get ripped when they ask questions and then act like a$$holes.
I think a new member sub forum could work. Only because in a 'new member' area people are more likely to ask questions and be less intimidated.
thank you that is the point i was trying to get across because i bet therfe are tons of new people that dont ask their questions because of fear of getting neg'd or something

zeus.nj thank you that is the point i was trying to get across because i bet therfe are tons of new people that dont ask their questions because of fear of getting neg'd or something
(why didn't i use the quote button????)
i don't think the new guys are afeared(i know i spelled afeared, wasn't going for afraid) of getting neg'd repped, because i doubt most of them have a rep to lose. also if there was a beginner section for them to ask questions, you would need a governing body of people with good answers to run it. otherwise it's beginners asking beginners, which is like two virgins have sex for the first time, sure it's fun, what with the fumbling and the awkwardness, but it can also be painful. and without the select group of people to answer the questions, it just becomes the normal forums all over again, what with the rippin and all. just my new member two cents.
thats where ur wrong, just because ur a newb to an online forum does not mean ur a newb to skimboarding, i could post all day and all night and be a senior member would i be then considered a good skimmer, even though i no the senior members are good because they post videos and are helpful

i thought we were talking about a beginner section where people could ask beginner-esque questions. which would imply that they were new to skimboarding. but if you're just talking about dividing the forums based on the little blurb underneath your screen name, that seems silly. or maybe i'm just not understanding something inherantly simple and thus i should be ashamed.

Really there should be an "idiots only" forum and you get there by being voted in. Now lets start the nominations.

I think there could be a forum split this summer depending on activity levels, but I dont think a bginner section makes sense. I would rather see a comprehensive faq section than a "beginner" section.

I like it. But could you image the carnage in there? I mean Rob Morris, Gnarkill, Corey, B-Dirty, Ken, etc.? I would almost pay to view that forum. Mayhem. Lots of poor spelling, the word fuck and N**ga, and the clash of egos.

i vote for the idiot's only forum idea
instead of banning the most annoying members, just send them there

I think the addition of a Reviews section, or a FAQ would be great.

Ok so the "idiots only" forum gets the nod. But the non-idiots will have the option of going on the "idiot only" forum for the purpose of badgering--sound good? The name then implies--that the idiots can ONLY post on there.
I feel good about this.

I like this idea. We need to do this. A banned/idiot forum. Temporary bans and permanant bans. And regular members can go in and comment but not vice versa. Sounds good.

If we get a reviews board then I would start posting some right away. I had the idea for board review threads but they would eventually get lost/loaded up with arguments and shit posts. So i'm waiting instead.
