my kid would never get into all that shit anyway. seems to me like the key to good parenting is not to go too strict... but not to just let your kids run wild. moderation. then they learn and you can let up on them as they get older.

i completely disagree. parenting only goes so far these days, with the influence media and peers have over teens, a lot of a kid's interests are out of the parent's hands.

both of my parents were fantastic. it didn't keep me from doing things that were idiotic, and it didn't keep my sister from getting into some horrific situations.

you could be a loving, not too oppressive not to free spirited parent and still wind up with a little fucktard for a kid.

Good parenting is all about instilling a sense of shame in your kids. If children are taught to be ashamed of their bad actions they will stop doing them. I see all these kids throwing tantrums in public and I never did that, my parents taught me to have a sense of embarrassment about acting out in public.

don't you think it's the best parenting strategy anyway? every kid does idiotic stuff. but because my parents raised me realistically, and not told me drinking is evil and sex is evil and all that crap... I've never done a drug, I drink but I definately have my priorities in line... and I'm fairly well rounded. I know that wacko kids can come from good parents... but don't you think the best strategy for parenting is right in the middle?

When I was a teenager I grew the long hair did wierd shit and blah blah, that didn't make me a bad person or my parents bad people. Kids will always have a rebellion stage in their life.
