here's the deal...i have a large zap pro with a white top and blue and black marbled bottom that im interested in selling. ive had it for two years but have only skimmed on it for 4 weeks (i only get to the beach once a year for 2 weeks). but i will say that it's such a ghetto board. first of all, it has a big ding on the front right rail that may or may not take in water. also, all along both rails in patches, theres a crack like between the rail and the floor. to top it all off, it it has a legit backpad but the arch bar is some 5$ thing i bought at the hardware store that is used on dock steps so they arent slippery. that being said, the arch works fine (maybe isn't as soft as real ones but whatever), the bottom of the board has very few scratches, and i dont believe there are any dings on top. for those of your havent ridden pros, i can tell you that they're built like tanks. the damage all happened last year at the beginnin of my vacation and i completely expected it to be unridable by the end of the two weeks cuz i skim 6+ hours a day but it was still in the same shape (in 20/20 hindsight, i shouldve repaired it for the 25$ or so that the surf shop asked or called zap, but i wanted a reason for a new board so i didnt). so depending on the interest, ill prolly be willing to let the board go as is for 60$+shipping or best offer. if you think about it, the back pad (DK) was 25 so youre gettin the board for only 35$. someone with the time, knowledge, and will to fix the board up could have a quality board at a ridiculous bargain, paying under 30$ for repair. let me know what you think

this is the type of scratches found on the bottom. they're purely cosmetic and dont go into the board. these arent the only scratches...there's some more that are similar in terms of degree and distribution but i couldnt get a good close up of the entire bottom

crack along the right rail. this sort of crack is found along both rails but only in patches (not the entire rail) and this section of the crack that is shown is by far the most severe.
now i know nothing about repairing boards so im just goin on what i was told. i was told by a guy in a surf shop on LBI this could be repaired easily enough and for cheap. maybe he was wrong, idk, i have no experience in the matter. look at the pics, see what you think, and let me know. i can get more pics of specific areas if you want. sorry for the blurry ones as well.

I'll be down July 29- Aug 13 and then we're driving to Dewey for the champs. Before then I'll be down every couple of days, but I have some other things to do so I might not get down as much as I wanted. I also skim 16th.. SB. Do you know any other skimmers from 16th??

know their names, no. i always see this kid with polka boardshorts and a kid with a blue exile. ive never met them though

Polka dots is Nole, Blue exile is Steve(I'm 99% sure thats his name, but don't shoot me if I'm wrong). I'm pretty sure Steve's board snapped back in October though... I don't know them personally either, I just know them from entering contests.

hm...do you have little brothers/sisters? ive seen two girls skimmin and one was a bag checker with an exile and the other looked like she was with her family but i never saw her up close. could that be you?

No siblings, thankfully, but my cousin was with me last year. It was probably me with the family, since they all come to NJ for the few weeks that we rent. The girl who is a bage checker with a yellow exile is Siobhan, again I don't know her personally, just from skimming against her in a contest.

despite my millions of offers for this thing..................anyone with more knowledge than me think this thing is fixable? what would it take and would it be worth the effort

No. At least $150 in repairs, not to mention the water damage caused to the foam already. Make a table, or a chair.

jhooligan, how do you mess a board up that fast in not alot of time? Were you like trying to skim on a sidewalk or somthing?
jhooligan
07-14-2006, 11:21 PM
well the board prolly had 200+ hours on it cuz since i get to go to the beach for only 2 weeks a year, i skim pretty much all day regardless of the condition. the big ding though, according to my brother, came when i collided with another kid's board. i dont really remember that and id think that i would, but maybe thats what really did happen idk. also, LBI, NJ has a lot of shells so that didnt help
