i was doing an air and some ripped kook on a woody did a flyaway and knocked me out of the air and landed on top of me pinning me underwater until he decided to stand up. I got a bloody nose, a black eye, and a lungfull of water because i was suffocating. He just walked away like nothing happend.

on the flip side

I was going down the line and tried to do a frontside bigspin popped completely around, not turning before the pop and sliding around the last 45-90 degrees like 90% of skimmers do, i stuck it and slipped out and it hit some chic in the shin. I was like are you ok and she was like yeah im fine i guess i should have listened to the sign that said no swimming 300 feet from the pier. I walk past her and her bf sitting on the beach a minute later and there is blood pouring out of a marble sized hole on her shin. I was like are you sure your ok, she picks up a beer takes a big chug and says im fine. I couldnt stop laughing for a quite a while after that.

i was sand skimming 2 weeks ago and jumped with all my tows out in front of the board and did a strait face plant into the sand and scared my chest on the left side (not that bad i know)

Today-- :( i was skimming and my dad says "lets see you hit the wave and get really high" so i go and hit the wave fly about 3 feet out of the water and my knee lands strait on my board like a hammer and gives it a nice crack/ dent... my boards only 2 weeks old :(

2 months ago i be skimin and i be like poppin big thangs yo know wat im sayinnnnnn.

no, there was a day at jensen and it was like flat then every few minutes a thigh high set would come through. a couple of waist high sets. anywho i poped up for a big spin re-entry, i was on top and everything, got lots of air to. came down for the reentry and barely kicked the rail, thus the board rail digging into the sand and the other side of the rail in postion to scrape the shit off my shin. Scraped like 1.25 inch off and it was all white and shit like birdman's leg in bearded. paramedics came and i decided not to go to the hospital and now i regret it, cuase its still here about the size of my pinky finger nail but still pretty deep. i shoulda got stitches, but now i have this gnarly scar to tell my story about.

fractured t3 and t4 vertabre, upper spine, while doing a backflip in 3 inches of water. Dumbest thing i have ever done considering theres not one morning i will ever be able to wake up and not feel like my backs broken in half.

ive had bad rail dings...split my heel pretty bad spinning a 3 shuv...tops of feet. the worse yet occured at the worse time...on vacation in Aliso.

skimmed west. 2 buddies went home. I stayed out and went to Aliso main...less that 10 runs in i bailed and my board went into my head with the wave. walkin back to the room to get wallet and insurance and crap and see what my head looked like some random couple took me to South Coast like a mile down the road.

2.5hrs in the ER. 5 staples later. Bitch did a real shitty job too but she was hot and had some titties on her.

this one if my friend P-roys worst fall (owner of smokin butts etc. bbq)

he was going down the line on a waist high wave, did a shuvit, landed it, and then when he stopped and was putting preassure on the rail to flip the board up it bent back all his toes more than 90 degrees and broke 3 of them. 25 years skimming and it was the first time he actually hurt himself seriously.

johnny schred made a sick rail..i went to boardslide it and hess. rite b4 i hit it,i poped up the board and my back foot slipped off caught the edge of the
2x4 and ripped my toe open about the size of a quater still a nice scar...me hating needles pussed out on gettin sticched up so it look pretty gnar...got inffected bad to so it was great and i wasent sapose to get it wet cuz of the glue stich so pretty much the smell was about unbarable

damn max. thats a good ass story. i was skimmin In LA and it was the weekend that this big drunken volleyball tournament happens in manhattan beach. there is thousands of drunk ass people everywhere. im skimmin for about ten minutes and me and my friend collide at mach speed. and his board goes straight into my ankle. i was on crutches for a week and had to be hauled off the beach in a lifeguard truck....terrible day

It looks like my Left wrist is broken or fractured. The bone sticks way out...compared to my Right wrist. I bailed and landed with all my weight on my left wrist. It hurts like a bitch and radiates up my friggin arm. Most of the pain is where the arrow is pointing. What does it look like to you? You guys are way more experienced than myself and I am sure had more than your share of skim related injuries so maybe you can take a look and see what it looks like. I hate going to the ER but if its broken...I guess I better go. :(

my friend's borther went skimin the other day and he just started to skimboard. He was running and tryin get on his woody but he falt or something. Broked his bone below the kness in 3 pieces. got 16 nails in his leg rit now!!!

Ouch sounds like what happend to my 17yr old last year. He had not been skimming over a year. He was hauling ass and the next thing I knew he was rolling around on the sand holding his leg. He broke its Tibia(sp) and Fibula(sp) and had two metal rods placed in that leg. He is back out skimming harder than ever now though. I am learning a lot from him so that is pretty cool.

This isnt that bad because nobody got hurt, but yesterday at the vero contest some kid was wraping a wave and about to come back down the face, and another kid was going up the face and the nose of his board went straight into the other kids board, put a pretty nice gash in it. They hit eachother but nobody got hurt

Anyway to stay ontopic... couple of years ago (three years now?) I got washed by a very big wave and got a major hear injury.. I've got permenant memoryloss problems and concentration issues...

As i'm told, since I can't recall anything of that day and rest of the week after, my mom took me to the hospital, the ER, and they made me wear a neckbrace and place me in the trauma-room (major injuries, like fractured spines, car crashes, etc.) and they placed a drip through which they gave me some morphine for the pain I had at the moment... They mad X-rays, CT-scan, MRI, etc...Because they thought I had broken vertrabrae... They found no other apparent reason to keep me there at that moment besides a small concussion... BUT they should have because I had a very serieus trauma near my brainstem... which is causing me troubles to this day..

But that all became clear a couple of months later when I couldn't remember like allmost everything I tried to keep in my memory.

Docters made a serious screw up that day... I had to stay in the Intensive Care for like three days and had to keep my brainrested for like six weeks.

anyway that was about it.. Now I have memorydamage/concenctration problems for the rest of my life.

he broke his neck and the ambulance had to come strait on to the beach and he was bleedin from his mouth and stuff and every one was cryin but he turned out fine and still skims today

fell backwards after doing a wet sand drop and hyperextended by elbow. I'm lucky it didn't break. It hurt for about 6 months after that. Broke one of my E.T. lookin' toes.

Hurt my big toe today. Did my drop and the wind kinda floated my board just before it landed. Kicked the rail with my toe. Felt like it ripped the nail right off. Toe is turning black now, nail will probably come off later.

Tow skimmin behind a truck at around 35-40 mph on an extremely rocky beach. Got too shallow (no water) and munched it on the rocks. Didn't hurt too bud just got bloodied up real good from head to toe. Kept gettin towed til the cops came and ruined the fun...

there was a kid who used to skim with some of us down here at sobe a few years back.. like 2003ish.. he went for a backflip out the back and planted himself headfirst in about 2-3 ft of water. broke his neck and is still paralyzed from the waist down to this day.
