good lil sesh this afternoon in the bay. Thanks to ZBR for the directions to the spot. Only problem was they were all breaking frontside for me except for a few larger sets that I could BS Wrap. I'm not a very good frontside line rider but when thats all what the doctor orders thats what you do.

Nice! What day was that? That's about what I caught Friday night, maybe not pitching as well but size-wise. Best session I've had in years. Probably a decade.

I so wish a pic would surface of me going left towards the pier. I was getting the fastest, punchiest little frontside lines and pulling out right before the pilings, and I had it all to myself b/c nobody was going on that left. I got some of the best rides that were head high, just drop in, bottom turn, one little turn on the face, hold the line for a couple seconds, pop off the shoulder. I never have any pics of myself though :(

that's down in KDH on Saturday. i left at 6:30am to head down there. it cleaned up a lot in the afternoon, the water turned carribean blue, and it got more hollow. so damn fun! your session sounds fun too. you shoudla tried to shoot the pier. i bet somebody woulda got that on video!

I attempted to get out today but it was way too windy. I went to Croatan and some of the slope is startin to come back but the conditions just sucked..Went by the North End and same thing. By far, around the steel pier their building, the slope over there is great. I haven't been to the pier since July. Imma attempt to go again tomorrow sometime after 4.

So here's a little vid from Fort Monroe today. It's really rare that there's any skim on Ft Monroe (where I work), there pretty much has to be a stiff wind out of the north b/c it has to blow straight down the chesapeake bay. Today I just went down to look at it and was surprised that there was actually little lines coming through. I really wish I'd thought to get the camera when I first went out there because the waves were much better, by the time I got the camera it was starting to crap out a little but there was still fun stuff coming through. Skimming's not much, I'm pretty disappointed w/ the footage but that's what I get for skimming hard for an hour and a half and THEN deciding to go grab my phone. Still I figured might as well put it together just to document that Ft. Monroe does occasionally get fun skimmable conditions. Earlier I had been down by the jetty you see in the back and I was actually getting some short little lines, but I liked this spot better because it had a little more power. The only swell Ft. Monroe gets is weak windswell, so it's weaker than ocean waves that size, and it's really hard to get those little lines to carry my heavy ass. Usually I just practice airs and stuff on these waves, they're the wave equivalent of little kicker ramps.

But if you look from this top stair walk, there's these rock jetties lined up on the coast. I remember being there around May and i was looking out and it was just sparking these clean liners. I was down by the North End last Tuesday..and it wasn't hitten great but compared to how it was at the Pier that day, It was worth the time being. like VicPolyCrawler said, literally people were almost waist high 40 yards out and sandbar just kept frackin' the breaks up. The slopes on the north end are pretty nasty. So looks like I'm going to be down there most of the time..unless Pier has something different to offer. Has anyone been to Croatan lately?

I went to the pier around 8:30 with my skim yesterday, surveyed the shorebreak for about 30 seconds, turned around and walked all the way back to my car and got my surfboard. Waves were still too good to skim.

Red board, blue trunks, longsleeve wetsuit top. It was really starting to get crappy by about 10. Before that I actually grabbed a couple quick closeout barrels and had a lot of fun, but the wind started to get on it. I kind of got out next to the pier and did a big arc up the beach to the 16th st. steps. There was this bum that followed me down there and I kind of accidentally gave him the impression I might help him out after I got out of the water (i agreed with something he said that I misheard and later realized he asked if I could help him out). He sat there on the beach for an hour and a half watching me surf. Seemed like a nice guy but while I was out in the water I started thinking about the prospect of him following me back to my car...this dude was bigger than me and he might have been a little pissed I only had 2 bucks. Luckily he didn't see me get out of the water and when I got to the stairs I bolted for the car.

well now that you mention, I do remember a time in july when it rained for like 2-3hours and the skim was guureeatt down in the north end. Thankfully there wasn't any thunder, just rain pourin' buckets. That was a funnn, hot summer day.

The pier sucked between 8:30-10:30 for skimming today. At 8:30 I looked at the 1st street cam and it looked great for skimming. Pier was troughy though. My recommendation is to not go to the pier. I wish I'd gone to first.

where were you man? i skimmed the pier from around 830 to 10 or so. then from there went to some other spots. pier wasnt too bad. pretty choppy and mushy but you could work some good liittle liners and wraps in. went up north and found some sick wraps and lines. super fun. wish i woulda gone up there when the tide was still coming up.

I'm walking on the "boardwalk" here at vb and I'm approaching the pier. I'm here for a police pre-employment polygraph that I just finished. I raged when I saw it would cost money to bring my skim along with me as my skimboard was only 9 inches too long to check it in as normal baggage. . I'm no longer raging as I see th conditions are small anyway. Damn I wanna skim this beach again sometime. It was mucho fun last time I was here in June.

i found a spot that was super fun a couple weeks and ago and swell looks good. i might be back at home and if so ill be out one day this week. if you wanna join ive got an extra board you could borrow.

edit - also. There were these scene kids on the beach that said Im a fool for wanting to live here and I should stay in ct because vb sucks. I was like ma'fucka, have you even been to Connecticut?!? Vb has it much nicer than ct when our temps regularly can hit single digits and receive several feet of snow annually. I've even seen it snow in may before, what the fucking fuck. Plus, the city is like 4 times the size of ct's biggest city. Total noobs those scene kids (as they smoke thier cigarettes while I'm sitting there on a bench on the beach relaxing)

vb can be a lot of fun. pretty good weather for the most part. got a good bar scene at the beach with lots of stuff to do most nights of the week.

yeah I was gonna hit croatan while I was at my brother's house. But I left my board at my house. Didn't feel like driven back n forth since his crib is 10 mins away from the beach and mines is about 30. Im off wednesday but its supposed to rain I think.
