i think it sux how you have to spread reputation before giving it to someone a lot of the time (even if i've only repped them a time or two). i mean, usually, there are only a few people that make great enough posts to get rep from me and other times, like today i tried to rep someone, whom i've never repped before, and it still said i have to spread rep. what gives?

Well you probably did rep them before and just didn't remember it if it says you have to spread rep. Also if you didn't have to spread rep, then the repping system would be abused even more then it has in the past.

I completely see where the admin side is coming from to prevent the abuse taht was happening, but at the same time, the rep system is going to slowly die off as it stands now. With no exaggeration, the last 7 or 8 people I've tried to rep I was denied saying I had to spread it. It sounds like others are having the same problem I'm having as well... Would it be possible to have a length of time set up that would still allow some control over the abuse situation, but be a little less strict than it is now.

For instance, every 2 weeks or so everyones rep restrictions be reset so that we would be able to use the rep system...

I'am still new to all this, and am not compleatly sure how this rep thing works, but why not create a certain rep allowence per week or couple of days etc. Than people won't abuse rep spending, and only those who really deserve rep would get it.

you do have a limit per day. not sure exactly what the number is, but its not that high. ever rep like 5 times in a day? it'll say "you've spread to much rep in the past 24 hours. try again later"

i usually dont have a problem cuz i rep the most random people, it's usually only people with high rep power that i ever get a message saying spread some reputation

i have a question how many reps does it take untill the number changes ex. my rep now is 1 and ive been reped 7 times all positive how many of them will it take until my rep goes to 2????

and whats that at the top right corner rep points? i have 22 right now

it doesnt go by just rep from other people. post count i believe also plays a part.
and whatever the person's rep is that reps you is how many points you get for it. that's where the 22 comes from.

Number is based off of posts, boxes is based off of rep received, every 100 it goes up a box.

maybe not exaclty 100, but after a certain number a points recieved you definitley go up a point. i also think the amount needed to go up a point goes higher as the number of points recieved gets higher
