Sorry if this was discussed in the old board, I haven't been on in a couple of months and missed it. What's up with the Vic Wombat? Is it the future of skimmming or a piece of crap?

Kyle,
What is it about it that blows? The lack of hard rails? If you've ridden one can you explain a little more (I haven't even seen one)
Thanks,
Mark

Yea I rode one a few days ago at Aliso. They are heavy, not heavy like a bowling ball heavy but much heavier than a "normal" skimboard. They also are very thick. The rails do actually have a little edge to them but the bulkiness of the board still makes it very difficult to turn and lean into your rail. It almost feels like you are "suction cupped" onto the water and can't get off of it.
So yea, no bueno in my experience.

does anyone that's ridden a wombat have any pictures of one? i'm prob not gonna get a chance to ride one, and i'd like to see some other angles of the board before i buy one. (other than just from the top like every website has...)
and ya ya i know.... i searched, so get off me. or i'll kill you. or maybe not.
any pics?

they seem cool for really weak or far out sider connections, but look hard for normal "Wrap type" skimboarding.

the reason i'm interested is because i'm taking a trip to el salvador, and i don't surf at all. if i take the wombat and there's no skim, i could still "sponge" it, and probably even skurf...

if you dont surf i doubt you could surf on it but i see where you are coming from and it makes sense that at least if theres no skim there are some more options.

now if i was to buy one of these "wombats" do they break easily, i would suppose not cuase of being foam and fiberglass like a body board, but in the shape of a skimboard. but....
