Just wondering if anyone has successfully made one these. I'm working with a mountain bike that has a "luggage rack" above the back tire. They sell surfboard carriers for bikes but they are about 90$. I was wondering if you could get the right stuff to make it from Lowes or something.

there was someone at the NJ contest who had one that was mounted on the right side of his bike. i had never seen anything like that b4 but it seemed to work really well

if you have a welder im sure you can def put something strong together out of scrap metal. A wood one would be lighter and probably work fine just as well
a lot of guys longboard or walk to the beach if they are close enough. biking seems like a good idea.

this looks like a pretty simple model that will prob even hold a skimboard if you build one similar

anyone ever think about useing PVC? of course yur gunna have to get the right gluse so it doesnt fall apart, but it might be the cheapest solution.
I was just thinkging about this today while at the beach. There are SOOOOO many miles of public beach that holds decent breaks that NOOOO one skims. The problem is finding these places. If you had a mountain bike and hooked one of these up you could ride up and down the beach and find and discover new breaks. Plus its great exercise...
those look pretty hardcore

You don't need one. Just master the art of riding no handed. There is nothing cooler than this.
I got a ten speed, I turned the handles around backwards so they are pointed like a bad ass Ram or something. Then you just hold your board under your armpit like you do when you are walking down the beach. I like to ride with my shirt off, but I haven't figured out how to keep the cigarette ashes from burning my chest hair yet. So if you figure that one out I'm all ears

Well if all that's true you're sounding like a super badass
And yea, that rear mount looks the most efficient. The side mount would stick out if you were riding on the side of the road.
Good idea for skimboards: the skimshop backpack bag. I have one and it works really well when riding a bike, as long as the rear wheel has a fender...
