Three Arch Bay

There are three different spots to hit. The south side of the beach, “middles”, and the north side of the beach. It works at both low and high tides and is a super fun break at a really high tide with a nice swell. Its a gated community, but once you get past it, the beach is killer. I highly… Continue »

Dry Lagoon

Dry lagoon is roughly 10 minutes south of Orick and 15 minutes north of Trinidad. I’ve only skimmed there a few times but what I’ve seen is there are some good sized ridible waves.(3-10 feet, not as big as big lagoon)The beach its self is a little steep but it all depends on the day. The only things I caution… Continue »

Samoa Beach

Cold water, most of the time followed by cold weather. Most of the time somewhat shitty shell bottom, the further south you go on the beach, the better it gets though. I would say high tide would be the best, due to the slope of the bank, but pretty much any time will do. Hardly any people AT ALL. You… Continue »

Big Lagoon

Big Lagoon is very easy to find just by knowing the name. From what I’ve seen it breaks probably year round (pending it’s not windy or stormy) I myself have never skimmed there. You have to have a few screws loose if you do. I have seen twelve foot shorebreak there and I wouldn’t doubt if it got bigger. A… Continue »

College Cove

College cove in Trinidad CA is about 12 miles north of Arcata (HSU). Being that I just got back to school in early August, I’m assuming that it starts breaking good around mid July. Right now (Sept.23) it is starting to tear away the slope and flatten out. I figure it should last another month or so but you never… Continue »

Moonstone Beach

Moonstone Beach in Trinidad, California is about 10 miles north of Arcata and about 7 north of McKinleyville. The last time I was there in the summer the waves were breaking hard close to shore giving perfect amount of space to catch some speed to hit the wave. The best times I saw for experienced riders were about an hour… Continue »

State Beach

The best spot on the coast when the wind is not up and there is no trough or dead water in front of the waves. Straight waves come in ( 2 – 5 ft), while siders are rare. Very strong barrels…This place is a must check place, because at times it is going off. Often good in the summer with… Continue »

Montara Beach

Very strong and powerful in the winter time. Cliffs on south side often block the wind. It’s a good high tide place and on occasion can get troughy ( yuck ). The best time of the year to skim is in the winter months by the south end and in the summer near the middle. Montara makes a good solid… Continue »

Carmel Beach

Carmel California is one of the most beautiful places around and can throw some pretty awesome waves once in a while. Swells break right on the beach about 40% of the time. Other than that, it is mostly whitewash coming in. Swells are usually about 1-2 feet and are best in the late summer to early fall. Once in a… Continue »
