Jack Tenney Wins Southside – 2013...

By Brandon Sears “Hi I’m in Delaware”, a quote from the movie Wayne’s World, is pretty much the first thing I get when I tell someone that I’m traveling to a skim contest there. Little do they know, little did I know before I traveled there, that Dewey Beach Delaware has one of the biggest skimboarding communities of any stop on… Continue »

Teddy Vlasis Wins 2013 Cabo Clasico...

By Aaron Peluso The 2013 UST Cabo Clasico will go down in my mind as the best one yet.  The event was held over three days from May 24 – May 26 in solid Cabo San Lucas shorebreak.  Wind was a problem throughout the weekend so scheduling was very important to try and get the best conditions.  This year the… Continue »

The UST Sununga World Cup Of...

By Aaron Peluso I attended my first skimboard contest back in the early 1980′s.  Since that time I have attended hundreds of skimboarding events over 25+ years.  West coast events, east coast events, international events…  I have seen a lot of competitions.  In all that time, I have never seen anything quite as awesome as the 2013 Sununga competition.  In… Continue »

Sununga Expression Session

The first Day of the Sununga UST World Cup waiting period started off with rainy and waveless, but ended with the best expression session I have seen in 25 years of watching skimboard contests. Competitors dutifully showed up bright and early for the spot check but with rain and the lack of waves, it was obvious we wouldn’t be running… Continue »

Brandon Sears Wins In Melaque

Words by Luis Uribe, edited by Steve Taylor It’s been more than 8 years since the first contest that I (Luis Uribe) and Drew Peace organized in Melaque. By that time the international skimboarding scene did not know anything about this tiny town that is located in the middle of the jungle in Mainland Mexico. After the contest I couldn’t… Continue »

Sam Stinnett Wins the OBX Skim Jam

By Woody Harris The final day of the Skim Jam not only brought some much needed cooler weather (slightly), but a small decrease in overall wave size throughout the day. A subtle offshore wind kept the faces buttery smooth as the sun showed its face into the afternoon. Right-to-left liners continued to cruise through the contest area, as well as… Continue »

Obx Day One Recap

Photos and words by Woody Harris The contest organizers started things off this morning on the Outer Banks with a bang; the pro heats were one of the first rounds run on the scorching, moist Carolina morning.  The conditions for the early heats weren’t the best due to the low tide, but definitely contestable.  The pros still made the the… Continue »
