Kill Devil Hills

This is an overall description for the entire city of Kill Devil Hills. This city usually has the best wraps on the Outer Banks. From May to September you can find spots that have excellent slope and wraps that can reach up to 5 feet. The breaks change a lot due to all of the storm activity in the area so you have to either be in the know about what street is breaking best or you have to do some checking. Checking beaches to find a good spot isn’t very hard here because the beach is so close to where you park. All you have to do is check spots and look down the beach both ways at each spot for a wave breaking close to shore. There are a few spots that generally get good every summer but it’s not for sure. Kill Devil Hills works on any swell direction and is offshore with any wind from the west. You can get to any spot in K.D.H from the beach road which is the 12.

1st street

First street has had fun waves almost every summer. Usually there is a really great slope and close to shore wraps/liners. Occasionally a point will form which can create a long liner peeling from right to left, but I have only seen this happen a few times. First street is located at mile post 7.

Hayman street

Hayman is another consistent spot in KDH. In recent years Hayman has been the most consistent spot and it has produced some really fun wraps with an excellent slope to get you to them.  Hayman is located near mile post 5 and a half.
